AMPOL to co-sponsor spill response school

AMPOL CEO Kirk Headley is proud to announce a joint venture with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Marine Survival Training center and The Response Group, to offer a 40-hour spill response training school.

The partnership was finalized in February, and an industry day will be held in the coming weeks to showcase this premier emergency response education resource. Classes will be held at the MSTC campus near the Lafayette Regional Airport, and will be offered monthly. A class can be scheduled at any time provided there will be 10 participants.

The school will feature instruction on ICS training levels 100, 200, and 300, containment protection in sensitive areas, clean up, recovery, transport, storage, and disposal. Job safety and environmental analysis also will be covered in depth, as will GIS technology, boat operations, air sampling, and scat team operations.

For more information on this exciting educational opportunity, contact Kirk Headley at (337) 365-7847, or MSTC (337) 262-5929

AMPOL expands assets.

AMPOL has added even more new assets to its current inventory of response equipment. The company has incorporated three new Premiere barge boats and two storage barges.

These storage barges are built to hold more than 240 barrels of recovered petroleum products. They also have the ability to work as skimming platforms as do the standard barge boats.

AMPOL maintains one of the largest and most thorough privately held inventories of spill response equipment in the Gulf of Mexico. In addition to the five new vessels, AMPOL's fleet includes various types of skimmer and response vessels, including two MARCO's and two 110 foot class vessels capable of responding more than 200 miles offshore. Also included in AMPOL's vast inventory of response and recovery equipment are Moss units, containment boom and absorbents, hauling equipment, and over-sized storage tanks.

The addition of these assets shows that AMPOL continues growing rapidly as one of the largest, privately held emergency response companies in the world.

AMPOL employs more than 200 employees worldwide and offers oil spill response, tank cleaning, confined space entry services, naturally occurring radioactive material (NORM) survey and remediation, lead and asbestos abatement services, insulation services, hazardous material (HAZ-MAT) emergency cleanup, soil remediation, demolition services, marine transportation, spill equipment manufacturing and emergency medical services.
